Indian Boundary Prairie
A 252-acre cluster of four prairies that are among the finest black soil prairies in the Midwest.
In Markham, east of Kedzie Ave., west of I-294, and between 155th and 157th streets.

Nachusa Grasslands
1,000 acre preserve.
Home to endangered upland sandpipers, loggerhead shrikes, and many rare grassland animals such as badgers and short-eared owls.
From Rochelle, take Illinois Hwy. 251 north to Flagg Road.
Turn west onto Flagg Road and continue approximately 16 miles west to Lowden Road.
Turn south onto Lowden Road and continue past Stone Barn Road.
The preserve will be on your right.
