(The soil cover described in the attached USEPA Fact Sheet states that a 24-inch soil cover was implemented. In the ULI data provided us, a representative from the US Army Corp of Engineers noted that a 30-inch cap would provide 50 to 100 years of protection. The depth of cover is what prevents the asbestos material from returning to the surface through the yearly process of freezing and thawing.)
