The TOWN Prospectus - The Past, Present, and Future of TOWN

When it comes to the myriad activities of Taskforce On Waukegan Neighborhoods, there is a rich story to tell. Many people are unaware of how it began, what it has been involved with (beyond a vague understanding that it "works to clean up Waukegan") or where it plans to go next. For that reason we have put together a prospectus - a document used to describe an organization to its stakeholders. In our case, the stakeholders are you, the public of Waukegan.

The TOWN Prospectus

We invite you to read much more about us. And after you've read the prospectus, explore our website in depth - the litigation section to learn about the lawsuits, the Forums to learn what the people of Waukegan and its surroundings are thinking, waukTOWN radio to hear a wide variety of shows of interest to Waukegan and its friends.

The TOWN Reports On Public Issues: The Genesee Theatre

Much of the work of the Taskforce On Waukegan Neighborhoods involves researching the issues that affect everybody's quality of life in our town. As we complete these projects, we make the reports available here so that you can make informed decisions and take action.

Sometimes the actions may involve contacting public officials, so we have assembled a Resources section that contains all of the information we have about contacting them - you can go there by clicking the Resources button at the top of this page.

Our latest report is the result of hundreds of hours spent analyzing the public data collected about the progress of the Genesee Theatre construction project provided by the City of Waukegan. Our report is a call to action, to make better known the issues that cry out for answers, and call upon the city to address those issues...

A Note to the Readers of the TOWN Report
on the Genesee Theatre Renovation Project

We in TOWN are as excited as anyone in Waukegan about the Grand opening of the new Genesee Theatre, scheduled for December 3, 2004. May Bill Cosby be merely the first of many world-class performers to grace the stage, and may a successful theatre become the engine to drive the redevelopment of our entire downtown.

But we in TOWN, like many other Waukegan citizens, are also disturbed about the painful process by which the new Genesee Theatre was belatedly born. This report has nothing to do with the theatre's future success. It has everything to do with the way that city business has been conducted. We invite you to read and ponder, and we welcome your comments.
